Existence of You

Every time I look at the morning sky

I see your blue-almond eyes looking at mine

through clouds far away from my land.

Every time I hear a cuckoo sing

I hear your voice, which never stopped singing Madhuvanti raga in my ears.

Every time I touch the jasmines in my garden

I remember those days you secretly

pinned your hair with the flowers

I kept on your table.

Every time I walk through meadows

I embrace the grass that touched

the silver anklets on your feet.

Every time I stroll through saffron shops

of the bazaar

I could smell your wet body

entangled around mine

during the rainy nights we spent

under the banyan tree.

You soon went away from me

like a mystery that never got revealed

leaving me alone in the darkness

you were afraid to be.

But I know you exist in me.

The atoms of love,

that you left in me, holds me together

in times of grief.

My love, your existence is an eternity.
