அச்சமில்லை, அச்சமில்லை, அச்சமென்ப தில்லையே
இச்சகத்து ளோரெலாம் எதிர்த்து நின்ற போதினும்,
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்பதில்லையே.
துச்சமாக எண்ணி நம்மைத் தூறுசெய்த போதினும்,
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்பதில்லையே,
பிச்சை வாங்கி உண்ணும் வாழ்க்கை பெற்றுவிட்ட போதினும்
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்பதில்லையே,
இச்சைகொண்ட பொருளெலாம் இழந்துவிட்ட போதினும்
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்ப தில்லையே. (1)
கச்சணிந்த கொங்கை மாதர்கண்கள் வீசுபோதினும்
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்பதில்லையே.
நச்சைவாயி லேகொணர்ந்து நண்பரூட்டு போதினும்
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்ப தில்லையே.
பச்சையூ னியைந்தவேற் படைகள் வந்த போதினும்
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்ப தில்லையே.
உச்சிமீது வானிடிந்து வீழுகின்ற போதினும்
அச்சமில்லை அச்சமில்லை அச்சமென்ப தில்லையே. (2)

Thuchchamaaga eNNi nammaith thooru seydha poadhinum

Ichchai koNda poruLelaam izhandhuvitta poadhinum

Translation.
NO FEAR!
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever
Though all in the whole world range against,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever.
Though slighted and scorned by all others,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever.
Though to live the life begging for food,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever.
All the things in life we love are lost,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever. (1)
Though the beautiful damsels cast their eyes,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever.
Though the friends feed us with poison,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever.
Though spears wielding army assails us,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever.
Even if the sky above were to break and fall,
No fear, no fear, any fear for us ever. (2)
Yes, that is the dictum that Bharathiyar gave the people under any circumstances described above. This is in reiteration of his several references to FEAR in his poems- AVOID FEAR- அச்சம் தவிர்- (achcham thavir) the first in his “Pudhiya Aathisoodi”- the “New Acronyms”. Only thing “to be feared is fear” we have often heard! Because fear kills all our interest, enthusiasm, initiatives………………..!
In his poem on INDIA he would start as
பாரத தேசமென்று பெயர் சொல்லுவார் – மிடிப்
பயங்கொல்லு வார் துயர் பகைவெல்லு வார்.
Bharatha dhaesamenru peyar solluvaar – midip
Bayamgkollu vaar thuyar pagaivellu vaar.
Uttering very name of the Bharath- country
Will annihilate FEAR and vanquish enmity.
”இன்னல்வந் துற்றிடும் போததற் கஞ்சோம்”
‘Innalvan dhutridum poathathar kanjoam’
”We will not fear when the sorrows visit”
”மாந்தெரெல்லாம் சோர்வை அச்சத்தை மறந்துவிட்டார்
காந்தி சொற் கேட்டார், காண்பார் விடுதலை கணத்தினுள்ளே”
‘maandharellaam soarvai achchaththai marandhuvittaar
Gandhi sor kaettaar, kaaNbaar vidudhalai kaNaththinuLLae’
‘All people stand cured of fatigue and fear
“Gandhi guides them, freedom will be theirs soon.”
Bidding adieu to the India under the chains, will say
”கிலி பிடித்த நெஞ்சினாய் போ, போ,போ”
‘kili pidiththa nenjinaay po, po, po ‘
“Fearful heart! Go away, go away, go away!”
Thus ‘FEAR” has got to be eschewed by all means by all people for attaining success in life!

I read Bharathiar’s ‘No Fear”
It is inspiring
Fear not go ahead for worthy cause . This applies from individual plane to higher stratas. The gusto and energy of Bharatiyar well reflected in sri nvsr translation. True fear has to be driven away from our thinking pattern.
How bold and courageous was Subramaniya Bharathi is much evident on his thoughts on NO FEAR, and through your translation!
Removing fear out of our minds is a forerunner to success in our endeavors, lest the initiative we’ve taken gets nullified, and becomes a void!
Of course, ‘ no fear ‘ doesn’t exclude the right wisdom we have to exhibit in various stages of execution!
Better it’s to inculcate the tendency right from one’s childhood to take firm root in due course!
This spirit is sought to be encouraged in every walk of life, thereby avoiding the pitfalls that may accompany with our show of fear in anything and everything!
