Dream Merchant

With a gift of gab

And a fetching smile,

Wafted in my life like a scented breeze

And stayed for a while

Showing off colourful wares

You had a hypnotic voice,

I was naive, I was ignorant

Of your charm and your guile

Got caught unwittingly in your snares

Sold me the dreams, sold me fantasies

In your glib, inimitable style

Walking, now, out of my life

Left me stranded on a lone isle

Sans any remorse, minus cares

So, you were a trader

Just a dream merchant

Wasted on you

My love so fervent

In order to woo me

You went extra mile

Your magic words

Like guided missile

Hit my core with flairs

Dropping your mask

Of multilayers

Let my heartbeat

A bit stabilize

Let me come to terms

And realize

I must abandon all negative

Thoughts of erstwhile

And take refuge

In my soulful prayers
