Sarabhai Sense-6

by Nourin N.K

A day after the private conversation about the ‘D’ word with Sarabhai, I had to attend a function for which I was invited a week ago.

The moment I arrived at the marriage hall, all I could hear was whispers around me and those weirdly contemptuous eyes on me which felt haunting. At first, I thought it’s just in my head, and then I heard the ‘D’ word from one of them. I am sure it can never be Sarabhai who revealed this secret to the public. She’s one of the topmost people I trust and have faith in.

Talking about the function, it was fantastic. I enjoyed it very much. I could make new friends and have as many varieties of food as I could.

When I was peacefully enjoying the elegant decor of the wedding hall, Mrs. Shangar came to me and asked what my thoughts were about the marriage. I told her that I am happy for both of them. But she wasn’t talking about that, it was after a few minutes that I realised she was indicating something else.

At first, she told me that she “thinks” this is a love marriage, but then with the progress of her explanation regarding the same, she said she’s sure that it is a love marriage. I was confused about what to comment on her argument since it was a serious issue to be discussed, I didn’t want to upset her by contributing a lame comment. Luckily to my rescue, Mrs. Pranav arrived to join the important conversation.

After listening to their conversation for an hour, I must admit that they have got a point. As they mentioned, the bride is so white and fair, and on the other hand, the groom is dark and lean. Calculating these objectives, they have come to the conclusion that this surely must be a love marriage. I guess, if the groom’s parents were asked to do some chemo to reduce the melanin in their skin and if the mother had drunk more milk with the saffron mix before planning for the baby, he would have been born exactly in the way which is appealing to these fair ladies. And there would be no room for this discussion and confusion at all.

Soon after the end of the discussion, it was announced by these wonderfully concerned ladies to their beautiful friends that this is a love marriage. And this crucial news was spread like a forest fire, without being disturbed or disagreed.

I bet that you too agree with the people of Gyaan Nagar, and I hope that this theory will help you to find out what is happening in other people’s lives. Stay tuned for next week to learn more about these amazing people.
