Washed Away by Floods

Coveted possessions unlimited
Flowing freely in the waters, intimidated
For some, hope instantly was washed away
And for some destiny ended their temporary stay.

A kith lying somewhere, encroached by darkness
Hopelessness amalgamating with homelessness
The tears flowing adding to the flooded rivers
Cries buried deep, under the overflowing waters.

Arms hanging by the side, of a body carried
Anonymous, revealing a smile of being freed
The souls of the loved wait for their return
But hope is nulled, as they  pack them in an urn.

Every year disaster strikes without a warning
The helpless cries washed in the gutters draining
Where did we wrong nature, to see its fury?
And why should  innocent pay a price so heavy?

Meagre help  comes at the time of disasters
Most gets sucked into  pockets of greedy monsters
With little hope left, each life tries to rebuild
Destiny destroys wealth, but never the strong willed.
