To Nay Sayers

They say,

“Surely it’s gonna fail

It’s gonna break

It’s gonna wreck

Like a ship with a hole.”

But

I am gonna try.

“Certainly it’s miserable

It’s weak

Like a fragile glass

It’s not worth it.”

But

I am gonna try.

“For sure it’s impossible

It’s almost unachievable

Ascending a mountain without oxygen

It’s not worthy of giving a go.”

But

I am gonna try.

“Undoubtedly it’s risky

It’s really dangerous

Like sailing without a compass

It is catastrophic.”

But

I am gonna try.

“Almost it’s destined to end

There is no hope

It won’t bring you anything.”

But

I am gonna try.

“The mountain out there

Overcast with fog

Poses a threat

Like a hurricane to a traveller

To those aspiring to ascend

The path is deadly.”

Yet

“The feat lying in horizon

Poorly visible

Frozen

Dark

Chilling

Perhaps counting another death.”

But

I must give it a go.
