To a Not-So Nonsensical Year

This was a stupid, stupid year,
For the ones who loved cold champagne parties
And
For the ones who loved their warm coffee.
It’s been strange,
For the ones who wanted to enjoy life,
And
For the ones who wanted to destroy theirs.
It’s been infuriating
For the wolves who knew their path,
And
For the ones who lost their directions.
It’s been stifling
For the birds who always stayed in the cages,
And
For the birds who were locked in their cages.

Beyond all the locking up, going out, drowning down in your head, speaking up, staying quiet, shouting loud, crying softly and sometimes violently.

This year taught us to be together,
With our loved ones,
With our sorrows,
With our pains,
With our happiness,
With our hopes,
With our passions,
With our fears,
With our tears,
With our despair.

This stupid, stupid year gave all of us a sense of whole in our hollow(s).
