Proud to Be An Indian

As an Indian,

I feel,

the colors behind me,

orange, white, and green,

propelling me in every endeavor,

as I proudly showcase my country,

not ashamed,

for we are all brothers and sisters,

in this great world,

our heritage is to be celebrated,

from Gandhi to Tendulkar,

from me to you,

for we are Indians and,

we hold that high.

  1. SARDAR Rabnawaz

Nice poem, vividly expressed emotions of unity and fraternity. Want to share my humble advice… the title of the poem should be, “grateful to be an Indian” as being proud of anything creates negative and evil emotions whereas being grateful always creates positive energy.

  2. Thank you, SARDAR. “Grateful” does sound a little more appreciative, but I do not believe that “Proud” denotes negativity or evil. Proud, by definition, is “feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one’s own achievements, qualities, or possessions or those of someone with whom one is closely associated.” It actually tends to have a positive connotation unless mentioned otherwise.
