My  Childhood

What do I tell you about my childhood

Amongst the throng of dear ones,

It was a lonely childhood

Running in the flower beds, with the butterflies

Stealing raw mangoes from the orchard and hide

Woe of separation I bore, along with laughs

When I had to leave the town where I loved to reside,

Carefree wind carried the dust of sadness

With black & white hues, was tinted my childhood

Every moment I lived under hard restraint,

Trip or falter, none to care

Circumstances taught  me in unripe age

How to grow up fast without mother,

Overnight I became an adult,

Replete  with duties was my childhood

In the rainy rills I floated paper boats

In festive times, houses, I bedecked

I recollect, with some friends, I too,

Had painted, the town red

With threads of day & night was woven that attire

Pictures of all designs  adorned my childhood

Playing with the dolls, I’d never known

Sulking and willfulness, I never learnt,

How kids are spoiled and pampered

That love, for me, was never  meant

Some want to retain forever childhood

I don’t even remember what was childhood

Now what do I tell you how was my childhood

In fact I have not even seen  my childhood
