A Request

Oh Lord

You are the great creator of this universe

Your ways are beyond human comprehension.

Innocently we not only question your ways but also

Have the audacity of expecting answers for them

Forgive us dear kind Lord because-

A person drowned in troubles, pain and bereavement

Is like a traveller in a sinking boat

 Helpless, sad, weak and scared

Groping for help and support he falls at your feet

With umpteen questions in spite of knowing that

Whoever is born has to die one day

As it’s the unchangeable  unavoidable law of Nature

But God, you are the giver of life then

Why does Death snatch away our loved ones from us?

Wholeheartedly we pray to you yet

Death gives a terrible jolt to us

Draining away all our strength and patience

Now you only tell us

Where do we go and what do we do in such circumstances

When we are tethered by loneliness and darkness all around

When weakness deprives us of all reasoning and understanding

When we are drowning in the deep currents of the sea of sorrow

Our life then becomes torturous

We have nothing left except memories

We therefore entreat you to let us live under your shelter

We also hope that

With the passage of time everything will be alright

Before you Oh Lord

We are just insignificant beggars

Standing in front of you with folded hands and bowed head

Requesting you to bestow the alms of

Peace, patience and courage to us so that

We can rise above the deep sorrow of bereavement.

Ohm Ishwarya Namaha.
