The Dear Departed

He called in the morn

He was fine…

The next news came he was gone

My jolly brother, the parents’ joy

Had left us all for his heavenly abode

He was not sick, no signs he showed

His heart was tired he did not know

The shock is too great, it is hard to bear

That now you were here, now you are there

The trauma you bore remained untold

No one beside you too far… so close

We love you dear you know that too

The vacuum remains it will never grow old

The strength, the love you gave us all

Will cherish our days until we are gone

We love you dear brother for your selfless devotion

We would if we could clutch your affection

We long to hold and claim you back

But you are gone without us there

To hold your hand and say goodbye

We love you dear the pain is great

But we know you are so brave

Be happy in your newfound home

Papa’s there to love and hold

Little Minky is there to comfort and … hold

Though you are no longer with us here

You live in our hearts for evermore

  1. It’s a very touching poem. It clearly shows how sisters, brothers, parents in fact all near & dear ones are heart broken when a healthy one suddenly leaves for his heavenly abode. It seems to create an absolute vacuum in our life. May God bless his soul & give him peace.
