Hence Proved

by Sowjanya M

Coronavirus, Covid-19, the year 2020 will also be called Covid-19 year.

In all the sense this year has brought a change in everyone’s life.

We all know, it is difficult to keep the children and all other family members under one roof but this was achieved.

A lot of men, women, and children learned to be resilient and independent by doing chores. It helped us understand that ‘Every Person Is Counted’ (EPIC) and that is why this year is epic.

We all understood the significance of homemakers, people belonging to the facility and service sector, essential service sector people like housekeeping facility, doctors, nurses, police, public transport works, teachers, farmers, cable operators, newspaper delivery personnel, home delivery workers, media and many more.

Perhaps due to procrastination or less motivation, many had refrained from exploring themselves and uncovering new hobbies but these pandemic times left no stone unturned as everyone’s social media were filled with pictures/videos of their newly found or practicing hobbies.

This year has enlightened me on the importance of small steps at a time and showed that shortcuts will not always work.

The importance of working with all the dedication, integrity, and determination in the respective job we have in hand was thought very well; it proved that any job is better than no job.

While some had the sweet experience, some had bitter ones; it showed the importance of the road to ordinariness, home is the place where we dwell and our heart is; after all, we do all that we do for the sake of the family.

It encouraged homeschooling by family members for the kids who are yet to join school; it created a virtual school/college environment through online classes where parents also got a glimpse of what the child learns and there were funny incidents due to mute and unmute when the school/college and home environment intersected.

We all are now aware that humanity is important than religion, caste, and creed. Essentially, we all pray may be different Gods but the prayers are the same, for the betterment and to protect humanity and elimination of Covid. We all stood united to fight this and to pass through this.

There were innumerable deaths around the world and we also heard the sad news the ones that are related to us, could be near and dear ones, family, and friends.

While some are happy that their marriage was postponed, some got happily married this year. While some were happy to fly from one country to another to see near and dear ones; some could not dare to because of the pandemic fear. While some had great opportunities to stay at home and learn there were students who could not afford to buy the required gadgets to learn virtually. While some people ate right and some overate, there were people who could eat very less or nothing at all.

There are people who named their babies born this year ‘Corona’ and ‘Covid’.

Some grew strong, some were broken, and some were weakened. Some learned to fight and be tough, some were clueless about the next step, and some gave up.

Many had plans for this year and it was all turned upside down.

This year proved that ‘Man proposes, God, disposes’. Hence proved that there are things that are not in our control, at times no matter how well planned road map we have for our lives, we just have to go with the flow.

Gratitude is the new attitude that should stay continued even in the crowd and in solitude.

And finally, since the year has come to an end, let us face the sunshine with a ray of hope that everything is going to be fine.

Wish You All A Very Happy New Year: 2021. J
