Poetry

The New Normal

Of late I have been

too lazy to run away,

I prefer the dust

to settle;

It’s slightly gentler

that way, and polite too.

Memory bleeds no more,

it is a white sky.

I have surely seen truth,

die a slow painful death.

And love to fade away,

Oh! so quietly.

But death has never looked,

so tired and full

As life on life disappears

into thin air.

There is now no heaven or afterlife.

Now is only the time

to watch the beauty of the world

drift by;

The pandemic of dying hopes.
