“If I were a Butterfly”

If I were a plain girl

I’d yearn to become a beauty

Wishing everyone to look at me,

And exclaim ‘Hi sweetie, cutie’

Were I an ugly duckling

I’d want to be transformed as a swan

Dancing in dry sandy lake

Dazzling, smiling like the dawn

If I were a butterfly

I would like to reminisce

When I was cocooned in a shell

That was the state of bliss

As larva I was wormish

Disgusting to look at

No one would like to touch me

I faced rejection flat

Then I became a butterfly

A beautiful, winged creature

Having all rainbow colours,

Charming , fascinating features

Still, I’d like to remember

Life’s metamorphic stages

Transition from ugly to winsome

A development in phases

Whatsoever we want to achieve

We can with will and ambition,

Some hard work and perseverance,s

Helps us to attain our mission

  1. Beauty lies in the beholder – philosophical it may appear!
But no one wants to be ugly and seem so!

The attribute’beauty’ is all a perception, we’re often told, but when it comes to us, individually we want our appearance to be appealing to the observers!

In the nature’s scheme of things, all of its creations are noteworthy and have a purpose behind – no matter the entity that came into being appears likeable or not!

Wisdom lies in accepting the creations as they are, and evolution means passing over of different stages of varied nature, like the beautiful butterfly with flying colours flying, of course after going past the stage of larva which indeed looks despicable!
