अभी बहुत आगे जाना है

रुकना नहीं है यहाँ पथिक

उस देदीप्य, सुशोभित नभ को,

इस भूतल पर सजाना है

मत रुक पथिक, अभी बहुत आगे जाना है ।

जहाँ से चले थे बहुत दूर आ गए

सहचर सब  छूट गए पीछे,

अब अकेले ही जाना है,

मत रुक यहाँ पथिक

अभी बहुत आगे जाना है ।

कभी कंकड़, कभी पुष्प

कभी छाओं, कभी शुष्क

निष्ठुर आंधी, तो कभी हिमपात के थपेड़े,

पर इस कर्त्तव्य को अंत तक निभाना है

हे पथिक, अभी बहुत आगे जाना है ।

पदचिन्ह रह जायेंगे इस निर्जन में

पर जो शायद कभी पीछे आएंगे

एकाकी राह में इन्हे देखकर, संभव कुछ ढांढस पाएंगे,

ज्वलित इस मरुस्थल में, एक वटवृक्ष लगाना है

मत रुक पथिक, अभी बहुत आगे जाना है ।

ये पग आगे कभी रुक जायेंगे

गंतव्य न सही पर नियति अवश्य मिलेगी

वह अंत न होगा, यात्रा फिर चलेगी

थोड़ा विश्राम कर, पुनः वापिस आना है

मत रुक पथिक, अभी बहुत आगे जाना है ॥

We cannot stop here

That luminous, dazzling sky you see

We have to bring it to Earth

Don’t stop here. O traveler, we have to go far

We have come far

All companions left behind

Now we have to go alone

Do not stop here O traveler

we have to go far

 

Sometimes stones, sometimes flowery

Sometimes shade, sometimes fiery

Ruthless storms & snow on occasion

My resolve will go till the end

O traveler, we have to go far

 

My marks will occupy this desolate

but those who come after me

will find solace in this lone path

like a banyan tree in desert

O traveler, we have to go far

 

Somewhere these feet will stop

if not destination, I will meet destiny

the journey will not end there

after some rest, I will come again

O traveler, we have to go far
