A Woman Is

A daughter, a daughter -in -law, a wife, a mother, a house keeper, a care taker
You name it and she is!
Right from her tender age she senses
The distinctions made between she and her brother
The freedom denied to her is always granted to him
A carefree life he leads while a curbed one falls in her lap
Yet it is she who sides and saves him from troubles
Supporting and defending him against all odds
She takes care of her parents too, yet
A girl is a girl to be kept under restraint
Ask not why or what for- it’s just for being a girl!
It’s very unfair she knows
No words of reasoning or logic ever support her
Not forgetting the disparity shown to her
For her rights she stands up
Only to be silenced sternly!
Modern world we live in, but
In age old beliefs steeped.
Please turn them not into rebellions!
We rage and talk –Save the girl child
Respect the women, but-
Lamentably they are mere words
In reality-
They are raped, abused, beaten up ….
To cite a few!
A very significant role a woman plays
In nurturing the children,
In transforming a house into a home
In spite of loads of work at home
Out she goes for earning to ease financial problems
Yet many a times
No right over her money she has, nor-
A say in family matters
The MAN thinks he’s the BOSS so
His authority alone counts over everything and everyone
Lip syncing has to end
Thoughts in action need to be put
Then and then alone
Girls and women will get the respect and honour
They deserve
Not only in a family but in the society too!

  1. well, well, well… it seems as though my comment has gone into the trash can… how very sad
you see ms anuradhaji… you cannot call the pot black all the time, which is probably what i did and so the comment has been censored
you really hit the nail on the head with your very apt observations
    keep it up
the expanded egos do feel hurt but …’that’s the way of the manly world!

  2. It’s good to know that you agree with my idea & thanks for your positive feedback Ms Diwakar

    Times have changed!

    Needless to breed disappointment!

    Equality seems indeed a reality!

    Needless to entertain suspicion!

    Understanding in full sight!

Needless to keep worry a companion!

    Times have changed!
