While writing can be a therapy method it’s actually intended to be a splashy fancy communique to an audience. A love letter to their tired brains which are subjected daily to discounted conversations and 7th grade newspapers.
It’s normal and natural for writers to write about themselves but writers should be reminded of what Art demands in the composition. A universality in the least is part and parcel of most literary endeavors. The days of confessional writing style are over having been replaced by reality TV.
If writing is going to stay relevant in the 21st century and beyond it must re-engage the audience with a seismic seduction that recalls the beauty of tradition while extolling the wonders of the future. This is not a balancing art as much as it’s a happy medium between toxic titillation and timely testament.
The world has changed the face of writing. Many in the Western World have never wrote a letter with a pen and paper. Many children have lost cursive abilities since most of their class work and examinations are performed on a computer. Publishing books has radically changed. Electronic books are quickly becoming a major phenomena on the literary stage.
It’s been said more emails are written in one year than all the hand written letters from Humanity since the dawn of writing. Technology is fast becoming friend and foe to the monied masses who are still scratching their heads when first told computers would save trees. My computer printer probably wastes more paper than my old IBM Selectric typewriter of the early 1980’s.
But I declare if writers keep Art as the intent, the structure and permanent purpose of literary writing, they win back a world that can’t be deleted by dumb machines or dumber politicians. We get to keep our Soul and help others keep theirs too. If Humanity is a mystery I say Art is one of the byproducts of existence in uncertain times. The ugly fact remains there are still people being murdered for their muse. This frequent tragedy should alert even sleepy journalists that writing is a medicine in the minds of people seeking to improve an imperiled planet.

Writing no doubt changeth the face of the world, which is ‘inundated’ with maladies galore.
You’ve rightly said that writing is a therapy for the ills being faced by the society.
And what’s put in black and white, is more appealing to the readers than those appearing in other modes of writing.
And to relieve one of the monotony of sticking to traditional patterns of writing, infusion of some sort of artistic element in the stuff is very much important.
Art is nothing but a deviation from the methods so far applied, but with the power and capacity to refresh the otherwise dull mind,and make it jump with joy and inspiration, that’s capable of making the world a different and conducive place to live in.
