Shadows of The Past

The shadows of the past

Fall back and forth

As I climb up the frosty steps of life

Each year flies past in the misty memories

Stored in the blinkers of yesteryears

The aching years revive the silhouettes of childhood

Now camouflaged with the

Raging signs of mingling pain and happiness

Filling the heart with fresh glories gained

The gift of life drowses at times

The dim limp losses dried and staked

The long spent aspirations… tingle and delight

To warm the heart by beating fast

Drumming its steps to heal and restore

The aching pains of yesterday

To lift the spirit now ready to fly

Leaning over the years so gray

May goodness flourish

The spirit refresh

The thrilling tickles of yesterday
