Another New Year

Once again, a year has passed by

Draped in memories flashing behind

The approaching year slides past rapidly

With the ticking off the clock

The hands move away as fast as the sun

Trumpets across the sky

Chasing barriers of clouds that slyly

Rise and fall and flow silently

Along with the wintry wind

Enwrapping the fading glories of the passing year

What promises are made un-made?

As the skipping hours of the day

Collide with rushing force to dismantle

Your vision of promising promises

That sits idle upon your mental horizon

Ready to topple down like a pack of cards

Strewn with the gush of the wind

 Or

Just tumble down like Jack and Jill

Or

Better still… like Humpty Dumpty

But

Like the rising waves of the sea

That rush to meet and overpower

The tumbling colliding waters

Racing towards the beach

Leaving behind lovely shells

For you to pick, choose or discard

The rosy aspects of alluring fantasies
