Dear Reader,

We have been fortunate to come so far in these three years and with your support and affection we will continue to work towards bringing new voices to the pedestal. We consider it our duty to feature works that are not only thought provoking but also inspiring others to go out of their comfort zones for the benefit of many. We too got inspired and today we are presenting before you an idea which may lead us to a bigger change in our education system.

Education is the single most powerful tool that can change a person’s life; education doesn’t only mean school or books but also individual guidance, activities or tools that can change the direction of life. We intend to run a small experiment called Project Uddalaka to mentor a small group of students from unprivileged background of different age groups for a year and gauge their progress in this duration. At the end of program we will analyze our results and see if this experiment can be scaled up to fit into broader academic context in schools, colleges and universities. Below are some of the sections describing various aspects of this project.

To improve academic performance, talent and personal development in children from disenfranchised background of varying age groups who are currently lagging behind in their studies.

Process

Activities will range from individual guidance to group activities of team building, competitions, extra curricular activities, sports etc. Activities will be based on interaction with students. Ideas will also be sought from experts already working in the field and general public alike.

People Involved

Set of 25 students

• Class 5 – Class 9, 10 students
• Class 10 – Class 12, 15 students

Mentors

Pool of 4-6 individuals working in the corporate, government, NGO & other spheres of work, Currently only one but invitation is open to all who want to volunteer their time in this effort.

Advisory Council

The group of mentors will also work closely with teachers of Ram Krishna Vidya Mandir School (RKVM) and Swami Supradiptananda, Principal, RKVM Gwalior in regards to achievement of stated goals. Readers of Indian Periodical and general public alike can also contribute their idea and resources to aid this effort.

Information Dissemination

Indian Periodical will regularly post updates, statistics, progress and information relevant to the project. After completion of project analysis will be published in Indian Periodical and will be shared with our publications and news outlets.

 Financial aid

Indian Periodical is not a registered company or NGO but we are willing to collaborate with any individual or organization who will be willing to support this effort. We want to assure everyone that complete transparency will be maintained in case of expenditures or reimbursements but aim is to be as economical as possible so that voluntary contribution of time and resources are not burden to anyone.
