The Setting Sun

Into this world Man comes as the golden rising sun-

In a chariot of happiness

Across the sky of life he navigates

Following the chosen path

Some wade through destitution

While others soar high with no frets

The goal to achieve

He soon reaches the mid day sun

The golden period of life

‘The youth’

Daring and courageous he tends to be-

A ‘no care’ attitude into him creeps

The parents, the elders become interfering bugs

Drowned in his own idyllic dream world

At arms length he keeps them

Irritated with their queries

A nuisance he considers them-

Till gripped in a sinking sand of troubles-

For rescue to them he runs!

But once pulled out of it –

His demeanor towards his loving, caring ones changes

He sees nothing beyond their money and responsibilities-

(Oblivious of his own duties/responsibilities)

Once retired they retire from his life too-

Into Cheshire home often they are literally dumped

An encumbrance it is to visit them-

Who survive hoping-

Someday their loved ones will surely come-

But alas!

Their sun ultimately sets with this painful hope!

Every living being’s midday sun-

Steadfastly advances towards the West

So forget not –

Ours too will set just as it did for our dear ones!

In a Cheshire home we too may land

All neglected and abandoned by-

Our very own dearest children-

For whom –

As parents we sacrificed all ours-

(Just as our parents did)

For their better today as well as tomorrow!

A game of ‘Follow the Leader’ it then becomes

So let’s break the shackles and-

Give our parents, our loving kith and kin their dues

While we can, for

No one knows-

What tomorrow holds for us!
