What is Control

By Mark Antony Rossi

What is control but a means to steer someone in the direction you wish. It’s safe to assume positive control is the basis for leadership. And it’s practical to expect negative control is a version of dictatorship. But is control contrary to the principles of freedom. If we “lose control” why exactly is this a bad thing. You hear a lot about control in personal relationships. She was out of control or he was so controlling.

What is control but a rationalization of good cop and bad cop. A terrible tug of war between opposing forces who justify their joust    in the name of posterity. Yet if control is a means to power and power usually corrupts the person — isn’t control another drug too often abused throughout history.

How is control legitimately regulated in the work place. Not all matters involving control can be laid at the feet of chain of command. There are far too many examples of control given to individuals perpetuating a cycle of poor treatment. What is control but a convenient cover for certain persons hiding their true face. A dark agenda brought to fruition at the second of your submission. If we are committed to autonomy the finer points of control need to be considered.

Why do we want control. Is there a past itch begging to be scratched. Is there a game afoot that pits people against each other. Is there a paternalism that suggests our control is the best method for safety, security and efficiency? Or is control a theatric disguise planning to heist your happiness.

What is control but winners writing histories absent of your name. If control is truly about exclusion how can you live another day without rising up and taking back your dignity. Control is an unhappy state of affairs fostered upon the few forfeiting their future for dream never to come true. Control is the enemy of Chaos; yet if we are honest Chaos is the biological mother of Freedom. And Freedom is the only environment, the only paradigm that allows you to be human.
