Homage

Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

The message came I was in shock

So I think were others?

Our Missile Man, our hope of the future

Was deep in sleep forever

Just a few hours back he was hale and sound

His tweets were read by the world around

The IIIM students were thrilled… you see

To be with him in their campus

But what happened so suddenly no one knows

He collapsed on the dais with all within

The doctors around him checked his pace

Dreading the truth, they must face

The afternoon passed the evening drew on

This mighty leader breathed no more

The nation was stunned the news spread around

Our beloved leader was simply gone

He rose from meager holdings

Staunch, honored and undaunted

His dreams to build a new India

On the ‘Wings of Fire’ were true

We bow to the great messiah of the World

And pray to the Almighty…

Not such heroes are always born…

A cherished ‘angel’ is gone.

May his soul rest in peace

May India and the world fulfills

All his unfulfilled dreams

  1. Yes, indeed it’s a very big loss for the entire country. Dr Kalam’s passing away is one of the greatest loss to our country & it shook the very ground we stood on like an earthquake. No words can show his greatness as an ordinary human being and also as a very great scientist, an intellectual. You have presented all this very well in your poem. Yes, let’s pray for his soul to rest in peace.

  2. A very befitting Homage to Dr.Kalam who was an epitome of a true Leader, a patriot, scientist agreat humanitarian. He has been aptly called a Great of the World whose death has created a Void which will be hard to fill. Dr kalam well deserves a Grand Salute!.
